The University of Missouri (MU) Family Medicine Residency was established more than 50 years ago. Since 1975, our programme has graduated 485 physicians who serve in diverse settings in 41 states across the state, plus Canada, England, Africa, and the Philippines.

Our graduates are leaders in family unit medicine also as geriatrics, sports medicine, public health, academic medicine, and health care assistants.

A Leader in EMR Development and Utilise

MU Family and Community Medicine has been a pioneer in developing and implementing the electronic medical record (EMR) at University Hospital and its clinics since 1999. In fact, our section is uniquely positioned as a strategic partner with the Cerner Corporation, the industry's leading EMR vendor. Patient-Centered Medical Habitation

Residents of MU Family unit Medicine are provided a continuity dispensary at 1 of our 4 outpatient clinic sites. This continuity clinic provides residents a panel of patients they can follow throughout residency. The continuity clinic as well provides residents an opportunity to establish relationships with clinic staff and social workers and, in some cases, psychologists, nurse practitioners and nutritionists. Residents also provide continuity of care to nursing domicile patients during the 2nd and third years of residency.

The Russell D. and Mary B. Shelden Clinical Simulation Center (CSC) has more than fifteen years experience in simulation curriculum development. Included in the CSC's 10,000 square feet are four multi-functional simulation suites, 8 patient exam rooms, two command rooms, a debriefing room, an ascertainment room, a classroom, and a technologically enhanced conference center. An avant-garde AV/Information technology recording organization includes 42 cameras and a web-based playback arrangement for assessment and digital storage of learner data. The CSC offers standardized patients and a wide multifariousness of mannequins. Existing simulation courses range from rural trauma training to customer service grooming.

The Department of Family and Community Medicine has partnered with Bothwell Regional Health Middle in Sedalia, Missouri, to create the Bothwell Rural Family unit Medicine Residency, which trains service-oriented, evidence-based family medicine physicians to provide outstanding care and leadership for rural patients and their communities.

The outset-year curriculum is shared with our Family Medicine Residency plan in Columbia, and the second and third years are in Bothwell Regional Wellness Center in Sedalia.

For Family Medicine residents who want to go on their education/grooming after graduation, Family and Community Medicine sponsors three fellowship programs, and it co-sponsors an online master'south degree program. All Family Medicine residents who decided to pursue fellowship training have matched with the programme of their choice.
